Our children are our legacy...
What are we really handing down?

It is well known that we inherit physical traits from our parents. What is less known is that we inherit our family’s emotional patterns as well. While our physical traits are easily discernable, our emotional legacy is more obscure. We are profoundly affected by our family history. Traumatic events -- such as the premature death of a parent, sibling or child, an abandonment, crime or suicide -- can exert a powerful influence over us, and in fact can leave their imprint on our entire family system for generations. Bonded by an unconscious loyalty, family members often repeat the sufferings of the past.

Physical illness, depression, anxiety, fear, panic attacks, financial failure, addiction, eating disorders and failed relationships can all be forms of this unconscious loyalty.
Once we identify these patterns, we can break free and begin to live in full strength and dignity.

The Behavioral Genetics approach has been distilled from systemic principles originated by Bert Hellinger, Virginia Satir, Ivan Boszormenyi-Nagi, Milton H. Erickson and others, and tested and refined through many years of clinical practice. It has been used successfully with hundreds of thousands of patients, and practiced in a variety of forms in more than 30 countries. The Center for Behavioral Genetics offers practical and effective workshops and training for those who
wish
to better understand the systemic influences on behavior, health and well-being.
